Mad Skillz

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

I gots mad skillz! I’ve figured out a few things, including how to wrap text around the small images I’ve been adding to my posts lately, and now a custom photo at the top of my page! Ain’t FTP grand?

I tried to load a plug-in that’s a random quote generator, but it doesn’t work with this version of WordPress. Oh well, I’ll keep looking.

June is known as Gay Pride Month, and surely many straight folk might not yet know why. Dust off the history book, if you want to know why gay pride is celebrated on the last Sunday in June, here’s the Wikipedia entry for your enlightenment.

Kwest Part 1

7-milebridge.jpgSo we’ve been back a whole week and I’ve yet to mention our trip much. Just basking in the afterglow of a wonderful vacation. This is more a travel diary for me to read and use for reminiscing than it is for others, so there may be more detail here than the casual blog reader cares for.

Planning and thinking about trips is really fun for me, so I spent plenty of time doing just that in advance. Wednesday after work, James and I made the five hour round trip to drop off Bosley and Colby at my parents’ house. Thursday I left the office about 1:30 and went home to help James with the final packing arrangements, then Jonas arrived and we left with Brian for the airport on time! We caught up with Gary at the gate and our flight left on time as well. The plane had quite a few children, but when you’re flying to Florida, what do you expect?

So How Was It?

Drink it up, this one’s for you
It’s been a lovely cruise
I’m sorry it’s ending, oh it’s sad, but it’s true
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise

These moments we’re left with
May you always remember
These moments are shared by few
There’s wind in our hair and there’s water in our shoes
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise

Oh, these moments we’re left with
May you always remember
These moments are shared by few
And those harbor lights, lord, they’re coming into view
We’ll bid our farewells much too soon
So drink it up, this one’s for you
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise

Countdown (or, I’ve Got Island Fever)

Monday, June 5th, 2006

The countdown to Key West has already begun, but if I have time I will post the lyrics to a few songs to help all of you get into the mood.

Tonight, may I present a selection that is relatively obscure. This song appeared on the soundtrack to the stage play that Jimmy wrote based on Herman Wouk’s novel, “Who’ll Stop the Carnival”. “Island Fever” by Mr. Jimmy Buffett…

iMix

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

There is now a link over on the right-hand menu bar to an iMix I submitted for iTunes. If you have iTunes installed on your machine, you can click on the link and it will pull up my iMix.

I also currently have one other iMix there and I plan to submit more. Unfortunately, some of the songs in the iMix either aren’t available on iTunes or otherwise don’t come up, so you don’t see the whole thing. I may soon devote a whole page to the iMixes and detail the missing songs.

Once in iTunes, you can click on “iMixes by this user” to see the other iMix, which is actually the first part of the compilation linked to.
